*For those who have not encountered such things, an undergraduate gown is worn by (you guessed it) undergraduates. The B.A. gown is worn by grad students who are under 25, and an M.A. gown by those who are over 25 or have a Cambridge Masters level qualification. Since the sheep are trying to sneak into the grad student-only formal dinners, they need B.A.(A.) gowns. – Alison
